Unifying and Strengthening the Black Birth Justice Movement in California!
Our Story
The California Coalition for Black Birth Justice (the Coalition) was co-founded and officially launched in 2022 by Black women leaders from birth equity initiatives in Northern and Southern California to unify and strengthen the Black birth justice movement across the state.
What We Do
We are committed to serving as a statewide connector and convener, supporting the care and capacity of the Black birth justice workforce, and scaling systems change improvement efforts with health care institutions. Our work is done through statewide programming, advocacy, and direct work with healthcare organizations.
Our Vision
We imagine a California where Black women's leadership is prioritized and Black families are valued and supported before, during, and after pregnancy
What We Believe
We believe that combining our knowledge, capacity, lived experiences, power, and deep love for Black people through the activation of a Black women-led coalition has significant potential to drive the necessary systemic change. We believe in deep collaboration, transparency, systems accountability, and nurturing ourselves and our communities.
