For over five decades, the Alcohol Research Group (ARG) has been dedicated to training the next generation of researchers.
Through its training program in collaboration with UC Berkeley, ARG has mentored and supported over 280 scientists who have subsequently contributed to various organizations and universities across the country. Notable postdoc alumni include:
Priscilla Martinez, scientist and deputy scientific director at ARG, who initiated the first awareness campaign in the US addressing the link between alcohol and breast cancer risk. The campaign reached over half a million people.
Miguel Pinedo, associate professor at the University of Texas, whose research focuses on how stressors related to immigration enforcement policies influence vulnerability to substance misuse.
Sarah Roberts, professor at UCSF, whose studies explore how policies and the healthcare system either punish or support structurally vulnerable pregnant individuals.
We seek your assistance to ensure the continued success of our program, enabling us to provide exceptional training for future scientists engaged in groundbreaking alcohol and drug research.
